Location:
Xalapa, a picturesque city in the coffee-growing country of the Mexican state of Veracruz, is a favorite with both Mexican and international visitors. Xalapa, the state capital, is in an area of impressive natural beauty and remarkably rich archeological and anthropological resources. It is located 199 miles southeast of Mexico City and 67 miles northwest of the seaport of Veracruz. At 4200 feet above sea level, Xalapa is surrounded by mountains, which include the snow-capped inactive volcano Pico de Orizaba, the highest in the country, towering 17,000 feet above sea level. Xalapa's climate is moderate, with cool nights and warm days freshened by spring-like showers. See a Xalapa map here.
