Noyce Grant Internship Program

The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program is a grant funded through the National Science Foundation (NSF) to encourage talented science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) majors and professionals to become secondary certified science and math teachers. Robert Noyce co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor in 1957 and Intel in 1968. He is also co-inventor of the integrated circuit (1959), which is the electronic heart of every computer, automobile, cell phone, advanced weapon and video game.

The Mesa Community College (MCC) Education Studies Department in conjunction with the Northern Arizona University (NAU) Center for Science Teaching and Learning (CSTL) are proud to jointly facilitate the NAU Noyce Fellows grant, September 2010 - August 2015.

MCC oversees paid Noyce internships in STEM-focused, K-12 summer youth camps in order to provide college freshmen and sophomores who possess STEM and teaching abilities a chance to observe and engage in STEM education. NAU oversees juniors, seniors, and post-baccalaureate students that are selected for substantial Noyce Fellows scholarships and are enrolled in an NAUTeach secondary education STEM teacher certification program.

Summer intern applicants are encouraged to first complete EDU 111 Inquiry-based Instructional Approaches to Teaching Science and Mathematics I at MCC, or NAUTeach STEP I at NAU.
