Born in Pittsburgh, PA, David has been an Arizona resident since age two, so he considers himself to be an Arizona Native. He earned a B.A. in Sociology from Occidental College, a highly regarded Liberal Arts institution in the Los Angeles area. In his spare time, David enjoys most sports including football, basketball and martial arts. He has also been a volunteer in the Mesa Room of the Mesa Public Library. David currently works with the Mesa Public Schools. He earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do in 1990 and has taught classes for both the Town of Gilbert (13 years) and for Mesa Public Schools (6 years). He also worked for the Textbook Company (1990 – 1995) and served in the U. S. Army from 1971 until 1973. David says the most interesting place he has ever visited is Berlin, Germany back when he was stationed in West Germany in the 1970’s. David continues, “It was a city divided by the Berlin Wall at the time, and it was extremely interesting to see the stark contrast between Western and Eastern Europe when traveling from West Berlin into East Berlin and then back again.” When asked what he likes most about MCC, David says “It would have to be my co-workers at MCC. Everyone is very friendly and if I need help with anything (which is often, being a full-time instructor for the first time) there is always someone to lend a hand or point me in the proper direction.” David makes his home in Mesa. When asked what he hopes to be doing in 5 to 10 years, he replied that he “hopes to join the ranks of the retired”.
