Mesa Community College

The Network Academy of the Business and Information Systems Department is a Microsoft IT Academy, and this provides the department an MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) membership. The membership allows the department to keep academic labs, faculty, and students up-to-date on the leading edge of software technology.

One of the benefits includes access to software titles such as MS Windows, MS Project, MS Visio, and Visual Studio, which includes Visual Basic, C#, and C++. Many of the required textbooks in our courses include the required software for students to work at home. The combination of these resources provides students with the latest versions of the software in the classroom and at home. If the textbook does not include the required software, students may obtain software through our MSDN Academic Alliance membership.

Obtaining Software

Some software titles may be downloaded for free, and others may be purchased on CD/DVD. Prices of software available on CD/DVD range from $19.95 - $24.95, plus shipping and handling which begins at $8.95. Software is obtained online through the ELMS (e-academy License Management System) Store, and payments are made using a credit card. Before attempting to order, students must request an ELMS account through their instructor as instructed below.

Microsoft IT Academy Student Pass

In addition to software, students are able to complete 12 to 22 hours of free e-learning courses to extend their IT or developer skills with Microsoft technologies. Student Pass is a perfect entry point to five different certification paths. Most tracks will require you to take additional e-learning courses to complete all of the topics you need to succeed on the certification exam. The five certification paths are:
  1. Windows Developer
  2. Web Developer
  3. Database Developer
  4. Windows Server IT Professional
  5. Windows Client IT Professional
