What are the course IDs for each class?
|

The Software Testing Class has a course id of CIS249. The quality class is offerd as CIS246 and the Development class is CIS248. A list of course ids can be found on the SQA webssite .

What is a section number?
|
|
Section numbers uniquely identify a course given that semester. They are normally 5 numbers (i.e. 43040).
|
|
What is a class prerequisite?
|
|
A class prerequite means you need to have taken one or more classes before being able to enroll. This may often times be overridden with permission of the instructor.
|
|
What does "permission of instructor" mean?
|
|
Permission of instructor normally means a pre-requisite may be waived with the instructor's permission. This must be done by the Instructor in advance of registration for the class. Contact your instructor for details.

How much time will I spend each week working on readings and assignments?
|
|
It varies with each class but reading and critical thinking problems will be assigned for completion outside of class. This could take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours depending on the student. The class time demands are consistent with any 3 credit hour class offered at MCC.
|

How much time will I spend online for class?
|
|
Larger classes take more time in on-line discussion to allow everyone a chance to participate. A full class of 24 students could take up to as much as three hours one or two times a week depending on the length of the class (one class meeting per week for 16 week class two times per week for 8 week classes).

Will we need to meet on the MCC campus?
|
|
The possibility does exist for an on campus class meeting but the SQA classes have been designed for remote participation over the Internet either with Eluminate and/or WebCT.
|

Where will I find my grades and course calendar?
|
|
my.maricopa.edu will contain grades and links to other course resources (i.e. WebCT)
|
|
Where will I find the course syllabus?
|
|
WebCt can be accessed on its own or via my.maricopa.edu. It will contain a syllabus and class calendar.
|
|
What kind of grade will I receive?
|
|
The Maricopa Community College District assigns letter grades only (A, B, C, D, W, P, Z). Classes may be audited for no grade.
|
|
Will the classes count towards a degree or certificate?
|
|
The SQA classes are not currently part of a degree or certificate program but with permission of the Business Department Chair may be substituted for other CIS classes required for a degree or certificate at MCC.
|

Do these classes transfer to other Arizona Colleges and Universities?
|
|
Official articulation has not been established at this time but plans are to have SQA courses transfer to other AZ colleges and universities.
|

What happens if I have to miss a class?
|
|
Class attendance requirements are posted in the syllabus but you should always notify your Instructor of your absence so he can inform you of the topics covered that class.
|

Will I have to buy a book and if so, where do I purchase books?
|
|
Books are used and are required for all courses. Books used in class are identified in the course syllabus. Books can be purchased at the MCC Southern & Dobson Campus Bookstore or on the Internet (Amazon, Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc.)

Will I have to buy any additional software?
|
|
No, but the most recent version of FireFox, IE or Safari browsers are recommended for Eluminate and WebCT.
|

Will there be group projects?
|
|
At this time, no group projects have been assigned.
|
|
What will I do if I need help outside of class?
|
|
Outside class help should be coordinated with your Instructor to determine a mutually beneficial format and time.
|
|
How will I contact my instructor?
|
|
Contact your Instructor via email or by phone if listed on the course syllabus. Contact information can be found on the class syllabus.

What is WebCT?
|
|
WebCT is course management system (similar to BlackBoard). You could think of WebCt as a structured web site specifically designed to distribute class information and communications from faculty. WebCT is accessible from the MyMcc page or via my.maricopa.edu

What hardware and software will I need?
|
|
A personal computer that can connect to the Internet along with a speaker and microphone (or headset) is all that is required at this time.
|
|
Will I be able to take the classes with a dialup connection?
|
|
Yes, but the performance of tools like Eliminate will be affected and will take longer to view web pages.
|
|
Are there any special computer requirements to use Elluminate?
|
|
No, just a connection to the Internet.
|
|
Will I be graded for my attendance?
|
|
Typically yes but this is at the discretion of the Instructor.
|
|
What happens if I Have To Miss a Class?
|
|
If you miss a class or know you are going to be absent for a class, you should contact your Instructor via email.
|
|
How many tests will there be?
|
|
Each class is different with the number determined by the Instructor. Tests are typically administered on-line.
|
|
Will there be quizzes?
|
|
This is also at the discretion of the Instructor and should be posted in the Syllabus. Quizzes are typically administered on-line with WebCT.
|
|
How will my assignments be graded?
|
|
Grading is based on rubrics determined by the Instructor. Tests can consist of multiple choice, true-false, short answer or essay.
|
|
How are assignments submitted?
|
|
Usually assignments are submitted as an email attachment to your Instructor but each Instructor can determine how the class should submit assignments.
|
|
Is there a software quality assurance certification test available?
|
|
There are plans for a SQA certification test but an implementation date is not available at this time.
|
