Students wishing to be considered for Scholarships should let their adviser know immediately. College and Department Scholarships and awards have varying deadlines for application, again usually early to mid-Spring. Departmental scholarships and awards are given on a merit basis by the votes of various committees, and are awarded at the Curtain Call Awards Banquet.
College and Department scholarships usually look for academic excellence reflected in a good GPA, combined with evidence of leadership and service as demonstrated in extracurricular activities in the College and College, together with a clear sense of one's educational and professional goals. Students should look for opportunities to demonstrate leadership in student organizations, and in a willingness to take the initiative in ensemble activities, which promote the wellbeing of the department as a whole.
