MCC 3rd Annual Festival of the ArtsThursday, April 3rd. We will have two stages set up with student musicians, theatre performances, dancers, poets, and storytellers.

Visual artists will be set up all around with tables and tents exhibiting and selling their work. We will even have students demonstrating ceramic throwing, drawing, and painting. Student clubs will be selling food, and we will have free popcorn and snow cones. Fashion design students will have a table for demos. If the students have a club and would like to raise money they are welcome to sell things, or as individuals. We could even do a fashion show on one of the stages. Please let Evonne know if you would like to sell items for the club. If you would like to sell items for yourself— you will get to keep the money.

What are your career plans after school?
Someday I hope to be able to launch my line on a much larger scale, but in the mean time would love to have the opportunity to work as a creative designer in the industry for successful, established designer lines like Gwen Stefani’s ‘Harajuku Mini’, Matilda Jane, and Tea. Their funky style really speaks to me and my design esthetic.
When do you anticipate graduating from MCC?
Since I still work a full time job I am only able to take night classes,  I suspect it will take me longer than I would like to graduate, but I am really enjoying all my classes.
Mydaddyshirtboutique.comYour declared major in the program?
Fashion Design.
Are you working on a Certificate of Completion at MCC?
I’m not currently working on any Certificate in particular, but I may look into them to help fast-track my career plans.
My Daddy's Shirt Upcycled BoutiqueDo you have a current fashion related job?
Yes and No… I work full time in the Telecom industry… but I do design a small Children’s clothing line on my off-time.
Anything else that you would like to add?
A  I enjoy using reclaimed and recycled materials in my designs and LOVE working with knits. I have a very short attention span and don’t like working mass-production too much, creating one-of-a-kind and limited editions really excites me.

Urban Princess

Urban PrincessHere is an outfit inspiration I put together for the urban princess with an edge!

My inspiration was Rihanna and the excessiveness of gold. From the SS 2014 collection of Balmain I used his coated tweed mini dress alongside I loved the thick collar necklace they had and also paired it with a quilted bootie and gold tip to keep the cohesiveness of gold going through and also to help the different textures be one and not off putting.

I would also pair this with a vintage Chanel full flap bag with gold hardware. Every girl needs some good diva sunglasses so I added Dolce & Gabbana cat eye sunglasses.

To finish off this look I recommend a good red lipstick like this new MAC Cosmetics lipstick called Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick goes great with many skin tones!
