Supervisor Forms and Hiring Procedures for 2015-16

Federal Work Study (FWS) means JOBS on campus for students. It is a form of federal financial aid. To be eligible, you must:

  • have a complete FAFSA on file at MCC

  • have an unmet financial need

  • enroll in at least six (6) credit hours (may vary for summer FWS)

To determine your eligibility for this program, go to MCC Enrollment Services and get your "FWS eligibility slip."

Front Counter Attendant -- Athletics Department

Students must be able to perform basic clerical duties that include the following: data entry, filing documents, good written and oral communication skills, and work well with others.  Other duties as assigned. Please contact Sherman Forbes if you are interested at 480-461-7048. Hours will be up to 19.5 per week. The pay rate will depend on job duties.

Recycling Collector - Occupational Health & Safety/Sustainability

Collect campus recycling, clean bins, sort materials, provide some lifting and outdoor work, observe safety guidelines, communicate effectively with employees; must be reliable and show attention to detail.  Must have valid AZ Driver's License.  To apply, please contact Suzi Dodt at recycle@mesacc.edu.  Applications are hanging on the door of NU122.  Work hours will be flexible on weekdays, but only between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., and you must be available for at least a minimum of 3-4 hrs. in a row.  The pay rate is $8.15/hr, work up to 20 hrs. per week.

Student AV Assistant -- CTS Media Services

Must be punctual and reliable.  Duties include locking and unlocking doors in order to deliver and pickup A/V equipment.  Assist in the assembly of A/V equipment and furniture.  Troubleshoot A/V systems.  Assist with special setups and other A/V Support.  Other duties as assigned.   To apply, please contact Jan Coolman at 480-461-7622, or stop by Media Services in AS 123. Work shifts are available mornings, afternoons and evenings for up to 19.5 hours per week, and there are three positions available.  The pay rate is $8.81/hr.

Student Ambassador- Student Life and Leadership

Provide campus tours, hosting campus activities on/off campus, identify resources for student, serve under-resourced, under prepared, disengage and diverse populations, assist with recruitment activities, serve as a peer mentor and/or peer advisor, able to work at least one year. Remain in good academic/behavioral standing, with GPA of at least 2.5. To apply, contact Lorena Austin at lorena.austin@mesacc.edu or 480-461-7285. Location: Building 35S. Pay is $8.15/hour.

Student Gardener -- Rose Garden at MCC

Assist with general maintenance of the Rose Garden such as weeding, pruning, watering, trash pick-up, etc. Hours vary 5:00am-1:30pm Monday-Friday, up to 19.5 hours per week. Pay is $10.00/hour. To apply contact Tanya Smith at 480-461-7200, Room AD148 (Building AD42). 

Front Desk Student Receptionist - Counseling Dept.

Greet students, answer phones, schedule appointments, make copies, run errands around campus as needed. Must have good customer service skills and computer skills. Assist students, faculty, and staff as needed. To apply, contact Heather Peters, 480-461-7587, Building 37N, Room 511. Hours up to 19.5/week. Pay rate: $8.50/hour. 

Student Worker/Desk Assistant - Office of Development

Answer phone and make phone calls, create files and file confidential documents, prepare and print thank you letters, archive files, and other duties as assigned. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (with proven expertise in Excel). Preference given to those with FileMaker Pro and/or other database software expertise. Office Coordinator - Outreach and Recruitment

Seeking an energetic, self-motivated work-study student with excellent customer service and communication skills that will serve as part of a dynamic team. Must demonstrate a commitment to service excellence and student success in performance of job duties. Ideally, you will feel comfortable working with databases, Excel spreadsheets and generating reports. Familiarity with Microsoft applications; Word, Excel, and Power Point is a plus. Hours are extremely flexible between the hours of 8am & 5pm Mon-Fri.

Student Lab Assistant - Life Science Lab

Wash labware, clean and stock lab rooms, prepare chemical solutions and media, testing lab emergency safety equipment and assisting lab techs with lab preparation. Must adhere to lab safety practices, be able to lift 30 lbs, verbally communicate well, be detail oriented and dependable. Good opportunity to learn skills for jobs in the science sector. Student Secretary - Life Science Dept.

Watch computer lab, help students with questions, help them get supplies for lab, answer phones, run errands, put away mail. To apply, contact Sandra Coates, 480-461-7115, Building NU6, Room 170. Pay rate is $8.33/hour, hours are up to 19.5 per week.

Computer Lab Assistant - Business & Information Systems Dept.

Work in the computer lab assisting students with their assignments. Candidate must have strong computer skills knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access). Student Worker - English Dept.

High quality customer service to prospective and current students, faculty, other department staff and the general public both in person and on the telephone. Use various online programs and locate data through file navigation, assistance with photocopying, scanning and filling out forms, document prep using various computer software programs, campus errands & more. Must be proactive and motivated to learn. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Previous customer service experience preferred. $8.15-$9.45/hour. Hours are 12pm-3pm, 12 hours/week. Student Assistant - Student Life & Leadership RED MOUNTAIN

Looking for outgoing friendly students to help with campus events, posting advertisements, leading campus tours, overseeing Student Lounge, customer service skills, computer experience, and willingness to learn preferred. Apply in Student Life to Erica Horihan, Mesquite Building, Room M-210 (Red Mountain). Pay rate is $8.15/hour. Work hours are block shifts between 8am & 5pm, Mon-Fri.

Student Worker - Enrollment Services RED MOUNTAIN

Assist in triage, serve as a connect specialist, filing, answer telephones, ID cards and data entry and front counter coverage. Student Assistant Lab Technician - Physical Science Lab - RED MOUNTAIN

Physical Science stockroom half-time lab assistant. Responsibilities include assisting lab techs with lab preparation, washing dishes, general cleaning, office, maintenance, and other duties as assigned.  Hours depend on your availability, some time between 7am and 6pm, Monday-Friday.
