KU SALINAS

Head Volleyball Coach

Ku'ulei Salinas is going into her 3rd year as Head Volleyball Coach at Mesa. While she was raise in the islands, Ku'ulei was educated on the Mainland and participated in both NJCAA and NCAA D1 Volleyball Teams.

Salinas earned a B.A. in Communications at Arizona State University and has been a realtor since 1996.

Ku is excited to share her years of experience with her team.

"This is a great opportunity to give back by helping these ladies achieve their potential as student-athletes and move on to four-year universities and earn a degree".

  • Played NJCAA - Eastern Arizona College* Female Athlete of the Year; First Team All Conference; Region Champions; Finished Top 10 at Nationals - 1995

  • Played NJCAA - Yavapai CC *Third Team All Conference – 1994

  • Played Gilbert High School, AZ *First Team All Conference; Mizuno All-Star Team -1993

  • Hawaii's Haili B Division All Tournament Team – 1992

  • USVBA National Junior Olympics – Team Finished Top 10 – 1991

 

Assistant Coach Miguel Salinas

Coach Miguel

Coach Salinas was a top basketball player from Mexico City HS. A few years after graduation he moved to Phoenix where he attended Mesa Community College and has worked at Arizona State University for the past ten years.

Coach Salinas has assisted the Thunderbird Volleyball team in the two previous seasons and has also been as assistant coach for women's volleyball and men's basketball teams at the high school level.

 

Assistant Coach Jae Sevy

Coach Sevy

Coach Sevy, a former Thunderbird Volleyball Player, played for Coach Salinas in the 2006 and 2007 season as a starting Right Side Hitter and Blocker both seasons.

Coach Sevy will stay aboard and assist the Lady Thunderbirds in 2008

She plans to transfer to Arizona State University to finish her degree in Archaeology andhas also assisted Coach Salinas with girls high school volleyball.
