Office of the President
Fall 2010 Welcome Message
Welcome to the fall 2010 semester at Mesa Community College. I am Shouan Pan, president of MCC.
Whether you are a new student, returning student, or coming back to college to recareer; I want you to know that your success is our number one priority. Along with our faculty, administration and staff, I encourage you to take advantage of the resources and opportunities available to you, such as Advisement, Counseling, Financial Aid, Tutoring, Child Care and many more. Please access our website for a complete listing, or visit Student Services for more information.
Another example of MCC’s commitment to providing students the tools for success is demonstrated in this newly renovated Health/Wellness building. This contemporary facility supports our nursing, exercise science and nutrition programs that focus on healthcare and healthy lifestyles. Our nursing students will be able to practice their knowledge and skills in the new state-of-the-art simulation labs. Our exercise science students will have the unique opportunity to supplement their classroom lecture with the use of the latest health/wellness diagnostic equipment such as; a Bod Pod and a Metabolic Measurement System; which quantify the human body’s composition and rate of energy expenditure. MCC is just one of a very few educational institutions, state-wide, to have this technology available for student learning. Funding for the building was made possible by the community-supported 2004 bond. I invite you to join me in celebrating the opening of the new building on Thursday, September 16 from 3- 5 p.m.
Whether you are attending classes at MCC’s Southern and Dobson campus, Red Mountain campus, the Downtown Center, Banner Boswell, the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway site, or online: I wish each and every one of you a successful semester. Get involved, study hard, Declare Success Your Major; and know that I, along with our faculty and staff share that commitment.
Shouan Pan, Ph.D
President, Mesa Community College
